Rebekah and the kids are in Oklahoma to visit family and I saw this as a great opportunity to finally debrief from my trip. I had to hit the ground running as soon as I got home. I needed to be present for the wife and kids. I needed to be present for all the craziness at work with the potential of a new job to make things more stressful. Needless to say it was a very full time in our lives.
Having had about a week to myself and trying to come to some sort of resolution so I could post some images with some nice or not so nice stories I realize I can’t do it. The things I experienced can’t be resolved. They don’t make sense and they shouldn’t. There really is no logical explanation how human beings can do this to one another or allow it to continue and I shoulder much of the guilt myself. It has taken me this long to engage and it has absolutely taken hold of me. I will go back and I will meet more people and hear their stories. I will share them with who ever will listen until human trafficking is a distant memory.
So, rather than a story with pictures I will post images and let them be. I can say that both Thailand and Cambodia are absolutely beautiful places and the people are very kind. I see my own humanity in them. I saw my daughter in every little girl and my son in every little boy. They are not “the other” in need of our pity. They are our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, in need of our voice and our empathy.
So, here are some of the people whose paths crossed mine.
